How to distinguish the direction of the I-shaped inductor?
 
The I-shaped inductor is named I-shaped inductor because the magnetic core of the winding is in the shape of an I-shaped inductor. The English abbreviation of the I-shaped magnetic core is DR. The two-pin one is DR2W, the three-pin one is DR3W, the four-pin one is DR4W, and the horizontal one with two pins is DRWW. 1. Look at the in and out wires
Two-pin: The I-shaped inductor is wound on the outermost layer. The pin on which the outermost wire hangs is the winding pin, and the other one is the winding pin. Multi-pin: Like the two-pin one, first find the outermost winding pin. It should be noted that the common pin that hangs the two wires is the winding pin of the first group and the starting pin of the second group.
2. Look at the length of the pin
Some product designs need to distinguish the direction when plugging in. The winding direction of the inductor plug-in needs to be consistent with the current direction. I-shaped inductor manufacturers generally design the pin length and short pin, with the short pin facing the starting line. The long and short pin design is convenient for plugging in the board, and the direction will not be wrong, which is suitable for small batch manual plug-in.
3. Check the printing on the sleeve
After the long and short pin design is plugged in, it is necessary to manually cut the pins, which is too costly. Print a white strip on the sleeve, and the white strip is opposite to the short pins. After the sleeve is inserted, the pins are cut to the desired length. According to the white strip on the sleeve, you know that it should be the starting winding pin, so you will not get the direction wrong, and you don’t need to cut the pins when plugging in.
4. Check the direction of the I-shaped inductor paper tape
It is suitable for braided I-shaped inductors. This type of inductor generally has long legs and is woven on the paper tape. Put the paper tape into the automatic plug-in machine and it can be automatically plugged in.
5. Check the top of the I-shaped inductor
Some I-shaped inductors or I-shaped shielded plug-in inductors will have a marking point printed on the top, marking the starting winding pin.
